Sylvia Xiaohua Chen

Chair Professor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences

Sylvia Xiaohua Chen is Chair Professor of Social and Cultural Psychology at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and a leading figure in psychology. An Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, her research explores mental health, bilingualism, and cultural diversity, with frameworks applied in 35 countries. In 2024, she was named one of China's Best Scientists in psychology and elected as a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), the only scholar from Hong Kong and China in the Social & Economic Sciences category. Her work highlights globalization's impact on acculturation and mental health, solidifying her global influence in advancing psychological knowledge.

陳曉華教授現任香港理工大學社會文化心理學講座教授，為心理學領域的權威領袖。她同時擔任《跨文化心理學期刊》（Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology）主編，其研究聚焦心理健康、雙語現象及文化多樣性，所建構的理論框架已於全球35個國家實踐應用。2024年，陳教授獲評為「中國心理學領域頂尖科學家」，並當選發展中國家科學院（TWAS）院士，成為社會及經濟科學領域中香港與中國地區唯一獲此殊榮的學者。其開創性研究揭示全球化對文化適應與心理健康的深層影響，奠定她在推動全球心理學知識發展的權威地位。
